Pastors

Rev Sid Grindley (Senior Pastor) returned to Sydney in January 2008 after 18 years in the Central West of NSW. He heads the Vision Team which overseas the ministry at Northside. He has a passion to see healthy growing churches where individuals can learn together and develop as disciples of Jesus. Sid enjoys being involved in music, is a football [soccer] tragic, and enjoys tennis. He also loves spending time with family & friends. Sid is married to Jennie and they have 3 adult children, 2 of whom are married.

Tim Giovanelli (Associate Pastor, Northside PM and Northside Nights) is from Sydney but spent 6 years living in Africa, working in the UK and studying at Regent College in Canada. Tim is the Pastor of the Northside PM and Northside Nights services. His passion is seeing the good news of the gospel getting hold of people's lives and the transforming effect this has. He enjoys a good surf, swimming at Balmoral and eating his way through Crows Nest.

Tim Kay (Student Pastor) is studying full time at Morling Theological College whilst working part-time with the morning congregation at Northside. Tim first came to Northside as a part of the evening congregation plant and is therefore passionately involved in both services. He is training in pastoral ministry and cross-cultural mission. His family plans to move to Russia in 2013 to be involved long term in a discipleship centre in Novosibirsk. Tim enjoys long walks, playing various musical instruments, reading good books, travelling and hanging out with friends. Most of all Tim loves spending time with his wife Jo, three-year-old son Elijah and baby daughter Leila.

Ministry Leaders

Steve Bernard (Worship Pastor) leads the worship and creative arts team at Northside with a particular emphasis on the PM congregation. Steve is passionate about helping people encounter God through worship. Steve is married to Claire, who owns and manages the clothing label Two Salty ( www.twosalty.com )

Mary-Jean Newton (Childrens and Families Ministry) has worked extensively with children and adults over the past 10 years in education, community development and creative leadership. She is currently studying a Masters of Community Management and her passion is to transfer these skills into the Christian community and see God touch people’s lives. Her role here at Northside focuses on creating an inspiring and dynamic environment within ministry for the children, youth and families of our congregation, as well as providing further engagement opportunities within our local community.

Amanda Jones (Office Administrator) looks after general administration in the office and works 3 days a week. As the point of first contact in the office, she aims to reflect God's welcoming love to all. Amanda is married to Graham Jones, the treasurer at Northside Baptist, and she has three children. Amanda has previously worked as a social worker, in a bookshop and in a legal office. She's attended Northside for more than 25 years, but isn't really as old as that makes her sound! She also plays netball 3-4 times a week and loves reading.

Nicole Reddy (Events and Courses Manager) organises special events and co-ordinates courses here at Northside. She is also completing her degree at UNSW focusing on Development Studies. She is passionate about seeing people and communities touched and transformed by God's love and hopes to work with local communities in social justice projects when she's completed her degree. She likes hanging out with friends, reading, writing and watching dvds of television shows to avoid the ads!
